In the next few months, Kaiapoi i-SITE will be settling back into the original historic railway station in a new location on Charles Street (opposite the Kaiapoi New World). The building will be moved from the current riverbank position and will be repositioned alongside the Morgan Williams Reserve. Gwen, Laura and Kim are looking forward to the move and will be inviting you to a party to celebrate!

Welcome to Kim at the i-SITE

In December 2011 Kim Fletcher- Purdom joined the team working at the Kaiapoi i-SITE Visitor Centre on a Sunday. Kim has comprehensive local knowledge having lived a total of 25 years in Rangiora, and also for the last 3 years has had strong interest in genealogy. "Since starting at the i-SITE, I have learnt so much and thoroughly enjoy meeting the diverse range of customers. I also get pleasure from satisfying our customers requests for information, bookings, itinerary planning etc that we do at the i-SITE, " says Kim.

Referrals generated off newzealand.com articles written by operators have almost doubled since Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) made some layout changes in late January 2012. Article pages now include more information about operators, and customers are given more prompts to contact your business. TNZ have improved the visibility of your business name and added contact details and a brief business listing description at the bottom of the article. This website can you add value to your business and for more information about how to add content to newzealand.com, contact Cathy or Tracy at Visit Waimakariri. Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism are currently working with TNZ to bring through the same business listing information from newzealand.com on to christchurchnz.com. This is a free offer, and we encourage you to take the time to upload your business information on to newzealand.com, as this will give you further online exposure and value for your business. Waimakariri Events update

Over the 2011 year there were 450 events that were promoted by Visit Waimakariri, through the What's On Waimakariri Event Guide and on the Event page of visitwaimamakariri.co.nz (an increase from 360 events in 2010!). With the majority of weekends from mid September to early April brimming with a variety of sporting, family and community events this has given plenty of reasons for the locals, visiting friends and family and day visitors from Christchurch to enjoy a fantastic time in the Waimakariri district. We are currently working with a number of event organisers for 2012/13, and its going to be another busy season for events that will encourage people to visit, play and stay!

Helpful tip

Why spend all that money on having a fancy website, if you have no idea who is visiting it! One of the keys to successful and effective marketing is to measure it. Not all marketing initiatives are that easy to measure, but websites sure are.Check out Google Analytics. It’s as simple as signing up for a Google account  and going through the easy steps to allow Google to access a wide range of statistics about your website. It’s completely free to do and you can find out which pages people are visiting, which country they are from, how long they stay on your website, whether they typed your web address in or came across it from a search engine, the list goes on
