 Waikuku Beach

Winter is a great time of year to walk along the sandy beaches that stretch from the mouth of the Waimakariri River to the Ashley / Rakahuri River. Access to the beaches is from Kairaki, Pines, Woodend and Waikuku Beaches. Wrap up warm and enjoy wandering along the beach, hearing the waves gently breaking on the sand and gazing out at views out across Pegasus Bay to Banks Peninsula.

Experience an adventure playground in the country lifestyle district of Waimakariri, between the mighty Waimakariri River and just beyond it's northern partner, the Ashley River. Along with the walking and cycling tracks there is an abundance of great activities and family fun to be discovered just north of Christchurch.

The Waimakariri's Walking & Cycling Guide, features over 50 tracks, which are suitable for all levels of fitness.
