KidsFest 2020

There will be a few changes this year to ensure the health and safety of participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but there will be just as much fun! There’s heaps to explore around Waimakariri; many of your favourite events are back, plus there’s some new online activities too! KidsFest is bursting with endless possibilities, so jump in and join us as we celebrate Canterbury’s tamariki. Family Quiz Night 

Do you have a mind full of trivia - or random facts? Why not gather the family and enter a team in one of our three quiz nights across Waimakariri. No devices - you'll need your memories for this one! A Golden Book of Knowledge will be awarded to each winning team!

 

Pirate Mystery Trail 

Ahoy me hearties! Pirates have taken over our libraries! Follow the clues and return your completed trail to be in for a chance at winning the treasure.

 

Teddy Stays Safe 

Come along for some fun games and give-aways while the children learn how they can keep teddy and themselves safe at home and out and about. Emergency Services will be there, as well as entertainment, stories, games and lots of fun. 

 

The Great Fairy Hunt 

Don't be cooped up indoors this winter, have some family fun and explore our great parks and recreational spaces along the way. Join us on a hunt for the fairies hiding places in North Canterbury. Come along for some face painting and be in to win a prize draw.

GKR Karate Safety Awareness Workshop

One of the things we hear a lot from parents is the desire for their children to learn resilience in preparation for their lives both inside and outside of school. This workshop will introduce children to the principles of safety awareness - from awareness of their surroundings, simple things they can do to keep themselves safe, and up to the last resort of self defence. Our aim is to leave children and parents alike feeling confident and empowered knowing that they have the ability to look out for themselves. Join us for a fun and easy session and learn to stay safe!

 

Roller Disco 

2*4*6*8 Who wants to roller skate? Grab the kids and some friends and hit the floor for a 1.5 hours of rolling fun. All skates and safety gear included, but feel free to bring your own. Great music, games and prizes. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

 

Waimakariri Aquatics Luau Pool Party

Come Join us for a Luau at our Aquatic Facilities. We have music, games, dancing, prizes and more. Tickets can be purchased through our reception staff onsite or give us a call and we can hold some tickets for you. We cant wait to see you there.

 

Wild Adventures 

This Elements programme has our favourite experiences - team challenges and icebreakers, active and creative play. Think making huts, climbing trees, bug collecting, mud and water play and more! Great for child development and FUN! Our therapeutic activities and enriched natural environments are designed to ignite creativity, problem solving and imagination in children. We encourage children to take age appropriate risks, try new things and challenge their body and mind in new ways in a safe environment.


Plays, Shows & Young Performers 

 

Performing Arts Winter Camp 

Four days of classes combining Acting Singing and Dance for students ages 7-13yrs. Cost: $36 a day. 20% discount for all four days, use Promo code: 4DAYDEAL. Age groups 6-8yrs / 8-10yrs/ 11-13yrs. Each day consists of three sessions including one each of dance, singing and acting with a lunch break and snack break. (afternoon tea provided) Students will get the chance to work with different tutors covering a range of topics like improvised theatre, musical theatre, dance and pop singing to name a few. The classes will cover different things each day so students may opt to attend one day or several. Students will not be expected to have previous experience, tutors will happily work with those who have never performed before as well as extend those with previous experience.

Sport Suzie’s Super Silly Circus Show

Introducing Suzie’s hilarious and very silly workout show. This is a high energy, action packed fun Show the whole family can enjoy. Suzie’s' Show is full of crazy stunts, from yoyo’s flying in air, to dazzling magic. The Show is jammed packed with super unicycling, crazy juggling, amazing balloon prizes and possibly the smallest bike you’ve ever seen! It's so much fun even your grumpy granddad will be laughing.

Friends in the Wild 

This programme is all about diving into ones imagination with a little help from ones friends! Children bring a stuffed toy animal from home to inspire play. They will take their pet on walks & obstacle courses. They can make a house or bed for their pet as well. Inspiring pretend play out in the wild interacting with the natural environment and loose parts. The therapeutic activities and enriched natural environments are designed to ignite creativity, problem solving and imagination in children. Children are encouraged to take age appropriate risks, try new things and challenge their body and mind in new ways in a safe environment.

 

Nature Craft 

Come along and get in touch with nature! Design your own nature collage, or try your hand at designing your own pet rock! All materials provided.
